Obituary

Rhea M. Larsen (Carlsen) Mims, aged 45 yrs, died in Fort Worth, Texas on Monday, July 3, 2006.  Rhea was born on February 21, 1961 in Sacramento, California to Mike and Zona Larsen. 

Rhea grew to hold a deep love for the mountains when her family moved to Utah in 1971.  She later graduated from Cottonwood High School, married Bill Carlsen, and lived with him in Evanston, Wyoming for fifteen years.  After their divorce, Rhea pursued, and earned degrees in Finance and Accounting at Texas Wesleyan University in Fort Worth, Texas.  There, she married Alton Ray Mims in 1996.  Rhea worked for both IBM and Dell in Austin, Texas before moving with her husband, Alton, to Lindale, Texas where they lived until her death. 

Rhea was skilled in card games, and loved to be outdoors.  She had many talents.  She wrote, sang, and embroidered.  She was especially gifted in making and cultivating deep, lasting friendships. 

Rhea is survived by her husband, Alton of Lindale, TX; two daughters, Mrs. Matthew W (Jamie B) Martin of Austin, TX; Mrs. Justin L (Janae S) Fair of Austin; two sons-Jason N Carlsen of Evanston, WY; Jeremy C Carlsen, and his wife, Andrea; three grandchildren- Devery Carlsen, Samantha Martin, and soon-to-be-born, Jasmyne Carlsen; her father, Mike Larsen of San Diego California; three sisters- Mrs Robin Belliston of Hyde Park, UT; Mrs Rebecca Urich of Casa Grande, AZ; Mrs Rhonda Bush of Anchorage, AK.  She was preceded in death by her mother, Zona G Larsen.

Services will be held on Thurs., July 13th at 4 p.m. at the South Jordan Stake Center in Utah(11400 S. 1600 W, South Jordan, Utah).

An additional memorial service and dinner will be held in her honor Sunday, July 30th at the Carmel Baptist Church in Lindale, Texas at 1:30 p.m.(10969 CR 481 in Lindale,TX).

    This is the first time I read the obituary. You did a fine job.

    You did a especialy well in giving a tribute to her while leaving out the ending she chose.

  2. I just learned today that Rhea had passed away, July 3, 2006. I am so sad to to hear this and sad that I didn’t know. I had lost her email address and thus lost contact with her. Even after three years…my heart still goes out to her and your family, for your loss. THANK YOU for writing about her.

    I attended six years of school with Rhea and she was a remarkable person and friend through those years.
